Basic Steps Taken to Clean a Human Decomposition in an Apartment or Home

Basic Steps:

1. Apply Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to assess the environment for project plan and treat the affected area with disinfectant.

2. Capture medical waste and affected material and contain biohazardous material in boxes for safe transportation and disposal.

3. Remove carpet or tile where fluid resides under to clean and disinfect exposed subfloor and surfaces. Disinfect exposed surfaces and fog affected area if there is an odor issue or for infection control.

DFW medical waste is captured by opening the affected carpet with a razor past the rim of the contamination plume. This blood and body fluid affected carpet is treated as DFW medical waste and disposed of in a compliant manner.

The affected material is cut and folded to fit inside the DFW medical waste disposal box for safe transport and compliant disposal.

The finished product is free of DFW medical waste and the whole apartment was treated multiple times for odor.
